A 7am start, 1063-kilometre journey and an unknown opposition is what stands in the way of South Cardiff Gunners and the night of their lives in the Westfield FFA Cup, reports the Newcastle Herald.
The boys from Newcastle have now hit the road with just over 12 hours before kick-off as they head to Melbourne for their clash with Victorian giant-killers South Springvale tonight (Tuesday) in the Westfield FFA Cup round of 32.

Greg Asquith’s troops boarded a bus at a chilly Hunter Stadium at 7am this morning for a trip to Sydney for their 11am flight south.
When they arrive in Melbourne they will then board another bus for the 54km drive to Kingston Heath in Cheltenham where their date with destiny awaits just a few hours later.
It’s a far from ideal preparation for the club’s shot at national glory but one the coach is confident won’t derail his side.
‘‘The boys are buzzing,’’ Asquith told the Newcastle Herald before leaving.
‘‘We leave … at seven, which makes it a huge day, but our committee has put in massive hours to make sure that everything is all good for us.
‘‘We’re very thankful that all we have to do is get on a bus and a plane. Everyone is really excited.
‘‘The mental preparation is the biggest challenge for us because it’s such a new experience.
‘‘We’ve seen a little bit of how they play and we expect a fairly physical encounter, especially early on. They will start very strongly so we need to be ready for that.’’
