FFA Cup wrap: 29 goals in three QLD games!

​There were three matches played in Queensland over the weekend in the Westfield FFA Cup preliminary rounds, with an incredible 29 goals scored in three games!

Magpies FC won a 12-goal thriller with the Mackay Wanderers, emerging 7-5 victors in an thrilling contest.

Frenchville SC were way too strong for the Emerald Eagles winning 10-2, while Whitsunday FC crushed Mackay Crusaders 5-0.

Meanwhile, in NNSW Broadmeadow Magic took another step towards another Westfield FFA Cup round of 32 berth, while Adamstown Rosebud were also big winners after another big weekend of preliminary round fixtures.

Magic stayed alive with a hard-earned 2-0 win over Lambton Jaffas with second half goals from Peter Haynes and Dino Fajkovic.

The Jaffas are the defending premiers in the Northern NSW  NPL but missed injured former Hyundai A-League pair Michael Bridges and Jobe Wheelhouse through injury.

In other results, Adamstown produced the shock scoreline of the weekend, thumping Weston Workers 6-0 at Darling Street Oval on Saturday.

“We know we’re not the best footballing side, but we’re one of the fittest, and you will have to be fit to beat us,’’ Adamstown coach Graham Law told the Newcastle Herald.

A hat-trick to Rene Ferguson helped Charlestown beat Maitland 3-2, coming from behind with two goals in the final 15 minutes.

Second-half goals to Dylan Holz and Bren Hammell gave Edgeworth a 2-1 win over Hamilton, while  Jesmond defeated Mayfield United Seniors on penalties.
