Four set to become two in SA

It's getting to crunch time in South Australia as the race for a spot in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 hots up with two intriguing Round 6 match ups.

West Torrens Birkalla v MetroStars

West Torrens Birkalla and MetroStars reach their penultimate match on their road to the Westfield FFA Cup SA Final, when they meet at Adelaide Shores Football Centre on Tuesday night.

Both sides come into the game having suffered a loss in their last PlayStation 4 National Premier League outing. And their position on the league ladder will count for nothing for these two proud sides, who will be striving for a chance to win some silverware for their trophy cabinet and opportunity to play on the big stage in the National Round of 32.

Birkalla have been unpredictable this season.

On their day they can be a destructive unit as they showed a fortnight ago in their 6-0 demolition of Adelaide United. It will be up to their coach Steve De Giovaniello to build inspiration in the locker room before the kick off if they are to progress further.

The two sides boast solid defences.

Tom Dittmar and Adam Le Cornu, have been consistent contributors as Birkalla’s central defenders, and their output on Tuesday night will be instrumental in deciding the outcome of the game.

Adelaide Blue Eagles v Adelaide City

The rivalry between two old rivals continues in the second S.A Semi Final of the Westfield FFA Cup when Adelaide Blue Eagles lock horns with Adelaide City on Wednesday night at The Parks Football Centre.

Adelaide Blue Eagles have had a resurgence with the return of Gianluca Ligati in the coach’s box, and from injury the solid pillars in defence of Andrej Rastovac and Chris Annicchiarico. And it is no coincidence that Blue Eagles have been able to stop the haemorrhaging of goals since their return to the back four line-up.

Blue Eagles also welcome back to the fold Alemayo Kebede from Adelaide Olympic. His acquisition will add depth to the midfield, and should setup a great contest with their Adelaide City counterparts.

Kebede will link up with his old comrade Jean Claude Boyokino, and the two should give Adelaide City’s coach Damian Mori plenty to think about during the course of the game.

Adelaide City are coming into this game in red hot form, and although Blue Eagles will put up are good contest, it is hard to see them stopping the Black & White juggernaut.
