West Adelaide v South Adelaide

West Adelaide's experience and composure saw them past a tough Westfield FFA Cup tie against South Adelaide.

Experience and composure was the difference between the two sides, as West Adelaide progressed through to the next round of the FFA Cup with a 5-2 victory over a gallant South Adelaide at Marden Sports Complex.

Two first half goals to West Adelaide set them up for victory, but not before South put on a rousing fight back in an enthralling action packed second half.

Goals to Jonathan Rideout and Athanasios Morakis after the half hour saw West steady, after a dominating opening fifteen minutes by South Adelaide that yielded little return.

Both sides found the back of the net in the second half.

Gawler SC v Playford City

Gawler Eagles overcame rivals Playford 5-2 in a Northern Derby to progress to the next phase of Westfield FFA Cup SA qualifying.

Nick Iannella put Playford to the sword with a perfect hat trick – one on his right foot, his left and one with his head.

Almond Thomas and Henry Hodgson rounded out the score sheet for the Eagles, while Daniel Maguire and Jayden Kirk grabbed the goals for the Patriots.

Speaking post game, Gawler Senior Coach Ray Deeley said Saturday’s performance showed what the Eagles are capable of.

“That was what we can do,” he said.

“We strung a game together today and we gave them nothing, they put their heads down and worked.

“I think it did help scoring the early goals and we seemed to settle down a little bit, but it is coming together and I was very pleased.”
