Northern NSW to hold first draw

The first sign of the FFA Cup being back in 2016 has come with Northern NSW Football set to hold their first Cup draw of the year on Thursday 21 January.

A total of 81 clubs from the region, including last year's two Round of 32 entrants Edgeworth FC and Broadmeadow Magic, have registered for the third year of the Westfield FFA Cup for the chance of being one of the two entrants from Northern NSW to qualify for the Round of 32.

The draw is scheduled to commence at 12noon (AEDT) and will be conducted by home grown Newcastle Jets duo Jason Hoffman and Ben Kantarovski.

Keep an eye on Northern NSW Football’s official Twitter account @NNSWF and their website for full details.

The process for the draw will take place in five different scenarios. All clubs nominated from Newcastle Football, Macquarie Football, Hunter Valley Football & NNSWF New FM will be placed in the same pot and drawn out one at a time to play each other in the initial round of the competition.

The PlayStation 4 NPL teams who are seeded into the competition in the next round will be drawn from a secondary pot and will play the winners of the first nine fixtures drawn from pot one. The remaining fixtures drawn from pot one will play the winner of the next fixture (example – winner of fixture 10 will play winner of fixture 11). The winner of the last fixture drawn from pot one (fixture 22) will receive a bye in the next round of the competition.

The four remaining Zones (Football Far North Coast, Football Mid North Coast, North Coast Football and Northern Inland Football) will be drawn individually with clubs to play each other within their own zone.

If there are an odd number of registrations a bye will be granted to the remaining team. This process will continue until an individual winner is found in each zone. They will then play the winner from one of the other zones to establish two participants for the qualifying weekend to be held in June.
