Reds going all out to beat Sky Blues

Sydney FC and Adelaide United will put their Hyundai A-League interests to one side when they meet in arguably the marquee match up of the Westfield FFA Cup Quarter Finals on Tuesday night.

From the time the first ball in the Westfield FFA Cup was kicked, coaches and players from Hyundai A-League clubs have continually emphasised the seriousness in which they are taking the Cup and that they are in it most definitely to try and win it.

That is why come Tuesday night with a spot in the last four on the line, Adelaide United striker Bruce Djite says the Reds are approaching the match with the intent it deserves.

“I think it’s an imortant competition and we’ve got to treat it accordingly," Djite said.

"It’s a prestigious competition and having the chance to win the inaugural FFA Cup is a big deal for us.”

If the Reds are to keep their Cup dream alive, Djite knows they will need to be at their best to overcome a Sydney FC outfit that has also been impressive in the Cup thus far, as well as in their opening two Hyundai A-League matches.

“They (Sydney FC) have had a good start to the season as well but we're confident that we should be able to get a good result.”

Sydney FC finds itself in the Quarter Finals after victories over Melbourne City and Sydney United 58 FC, while the Reds knocked out Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar on their way to the last eight.

Both sides have been impressive in reaching this stage of the competition. Ali Abbas has found the back of the net three times in the Sky Blues’ Cup campaign, albeit two of them coming from the penalty spot, while Corey Gamiero has also proved a sharp shooter for Graham Arnold’s side not only in the Cup but throughout the pre season.

Djite and Sergio Cirio have been the ones on target in helping the Reds progress, while exciting youngster Awer Mabil will be available after returning from Young Socceroos duty.

Considering the seriousness with which both teams are taking the encounter, it promises to be on for young and old at Allianz Stadium on Tuesday night. Kick-Off is at 7.30pm AEDT.  Click here for ticketing details.

The match will also be shown LIVE & exclusively on FOX SPORTS 2 and 2HD.
