Suns coach proud after FFA Cup loss

Rockdale City Suns bowed out of the Westfield FFA Cup on Tuesday night, but player-coach Paul Reid was full of praise for his side’s plucky performance against the reigning Hyundai A-League champions Melbourne Victory.

Victory avoided what would have been a huge upset by holding off a gallant Suns to win 3-2 in a memorable FFA Cup round-of-16 encounter at Jubilee Oval in Sydney.

“I’m really proud of the boys. We went into the game with a plan, we knew it would be tough but even in the first half, we went into half-time 1-0 down and I think we had the better chances,” Suns player-coach Reid told Fox Sports after the game.

“We conceded at a really bad time. At the end of the day we can take a lot of faith out of the performance tonight from the boys.”

The final minutes of the match were exhilarating as the PS4 NPL Suns pushed Victory all the way with a series of corners.

The crowd went wild as they willed an equaliseras keeper Ivan Necevski made his way into the visitors' box, but somehow the Victorian powerhouse were able to hold on.
