NEVER WRITE OFF SOUTH

“That’s what this club’s about. We go all the way to the end,” a delighted Lujic told Fox Sports after his header killed off a brave Eagles side.

“Hopefully we showed Australia what we’re all about. A club like this deserves to be in the A-League and hopefully tonight we showed that.”

It was tough on the NNSW side who set up superbly well and should’ve scored on the stroke of half time after Daniel McBreen missed a good chance in the box.

The Eagles played some eye-catching football but were caught out in the end by a moment of magic courtesy of a player who is turning into a club legend.

CRUCIAL GOAL

Lujic’s header from a pin-point corner was directed past the excellent Nate Cavaliere to spark wild scenes from the home fans.

“It’s a big club and we know what this game meant for the club,” added Lujic.

“They [Eagles] are a tough team and they came at us in the first half

South Melbourne coach Chris Taylor said after the game his goal was to win the FFA Cup.
