South Melbourne have entered uncharted territory. A 4-1 win over Sorrento FC at Lakeside Stadium has seen the famous Victorian club make the quarter-finals of the Westfield FFA Cup for the first time.

HISTORY MAKERS
“We've never made it this far,” delighted captain Brad Norton told Fox Sports afterwards.
“We knew it was a big night for the club.
“We wanted to put on a good performance and thankfully we did that.
“Now we look forward to the next round – we’ve never been there.
“It's unseen territory for us and a big step for the club,” he said.
MINOPOULOS EASES EARLY NERVES
A first-minute goal from striker Leigh Minopoulos set the platform for South Melbourne's comfortable victory.
“The hype and the nerves get to you as you're walking out onto the field,” said Norton.
“To settle that down with a goal in the first two minutes always helps.
“It was a positive start and thankfully we [went] on with it.”
TRICKY NICKY
Exciting attacker Nick Epifano was a constant menace for South Melbourne, grabbing a brace.
“Epa is a gun,” smiled Norton.
“He doesn't need any space but he somehow finds a way out.
“But it was a team effort tonight.
“I thought we ran the midfield and all over the park we were solid,” he said.
HIGH HOPES FOR LAST EIGHT DRAW
South Melbourne now await the quarter-final draw and are hoping for a home tie against a Hyundai A-League side.
“That's the dream, isn't it?” said Norton.
“For the players and the club it would be great night if we could get that.
“But whoever we get we'll be looking forward to it.
“We're in the quarter-finals now so it's all positive,” he said.
