Tassie favourites receive favourable draw

The top four sides in PlayStation 4 NPL Tasmania have once again been dealt a kind draw as they all avoided each other in the next round of Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds.

With a gap already opening up between fourth and fifth in the league, it appears a big four has developed and they will be favoured to meet each other in the next round after the draw kept them away from each other. The quarter finals are set to be played out on the weekend of April 29/30 with venues and kick off times to be finalised later this week.

In the first game Hobart Zebras will host Clarence at KGV, having already defeated the Reds 5-0 earlier in the season at that venue. Having beaten one Launceston side 12-0 in the round of 16, South Hobart will again be headed north, this time to meet Launceston City, who only just snuck through to the quarter finals with an extra time win over University.

Elsewhere Nelson’s reward for their incredible cup upset is a match up with current NPL League leaders Olympia. The game is an Eastern Shore Derby with the two clubs playing just a stone’s throw away from each other. Fellow Southern Championship side Glenorchy Knights will host the defending champion Devonport Strikers in a rematch of last season’s round of 16 match.

On that day it was Devonport who triumphed 4-0 on their way to an eventual cup triumph and Knights will be looking for an improved showing this time around, having strengthened their squad significantly in hopes of making a deep Cup run.
