Adelaide Olympic strike partnership with Greek Champions PAOK

Adelaide Olympic have announced a partnership with reigning Greek Super League Champions PAOK.

The partnership will see an exchange of coaches between the NPL South Australia outfit and the Thessaloniki-based giants.

It will also offer an opportunity for Adelaide youth to participate in future PAOK youth tournaments.

“The objective of the cooperation is to build a sustainable, mutually beneficial long-term relationship with a focus on the development of football player and coaches as well,” reads a written agreement sent by PAOK Academy General Director, Evangelos Pourliotopoulos.

“With acceptance and further communication, we intend to seek an exchange of coaches prior to extending an invitation for a team of your youth academy to participate in our youth tournaments that host teams not only from Greece but all corners of the world.”

Olympic, who face NPL WA Floreat Athena in the FFA Cup 2019 Round of 32, thanked former PAOK and West Adelaide midfielder Pavli Vangjeli for his role in striking an arrangement between the two clubs.

Vangjeli’s brother Kristi, who is a 35-cap Albanian international, currently plays for Olympic and once marked Juventus and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in October 2008.

PAOK beat Olympiacos to the Greek Super League title last year. They are the former club of ex-Hyundai A-League star Ante Covic and current Melbourne Victory midfielder Terry Antonis.
