After FFA Cup semi-final success, Glory issue warning

Perth Glory's giant defender Dino Djulbic says opposition sides are “scared” of his team's set piece quality after their 3-1 Westfield FFA Cup semi final win over Melbourne City sealed their place in the final.

Glory opened the scoring via Gyorgy Sandor via a corner and troubled City all night from dead-ball situations on Wednesday night.

Perth could easily have had another couple of goals from a number of corners and free-kicks around the box.

With a final against either Melbourne Victory or Hume City to come, Djulbic knows it’s a big weapon for his side.

“‘We speak about it every day and it’s a big part for us,” Djulbic said when asked about their set-piece ability.

Perth Glory celebrate following their 3-1 win over Melbourne City FC.

“I think last year we scored 12 goals [from set pieces] and this year we have two or three already in three games.

“This is a big part of our game and I think other teams are scared.

“I think the team has been performing unbelievable,” he added. “We said it’s going to take a bit of time and the results will come and tonight we showed again we are here and we want to win stuff.”

Djulbic admitted last year’s final defeat against Adelaide United still stings but feels the squad deserve their shot at redemption.

“Being the only team to make the final twice is unbelievable,” he said.

“These boys put the effort in at training and work hard and for me it’s a very personal thing.

“This time hopefully we can win the trophy and bring it back to Perth.”
