It was a massive Anzac Day of Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Round action as some of the big clubs in SA and WA bit the dust.
Adelaide City were beaten 2-1 by fellow PlayStation 4 NPL club Adelaide Blue Eagles while Port Adelaide Pirates, who went close to qualifying for the Round of 32 last year, put four goals past last season’s PlayStation 4 NPL Premiers West Adelaide on their way to the next round.
MetroStars and Croydon Kings closed in on their second appearance into the Round of 32 after comprehensive wins over Gawler SC and Adelaide Uni-Grads Red respectively, while Cumberland United toppled NPL club West Torrens Birkalla.

Gosnells City scored the biggest win of the day as they hammered Football Margaret River 8-0, PlayStation 4 NPL clubs Floreat Athena and Inglewood United also winning comfortably against lower ranked opponents.
The biggest casualties to fall were last year’s Round of 32 entrants, Sorrento FC and Perth SC, while Bayswater City, who reached the Round of 32 in 2014 and has been a the standout team in WA over the past two years, fell 2-0 to Cockburn City.

There was also a solitary tie in NSW as the final Round 5 match was decided, Wagga City Wanderers progressing through to one the last 20 clubs standing courtesy of a 2-0 win over Hurstville City Minotaurs.
The Wanderers will now host Gladesville Ryde Magic in Round 6.
