Battle of the coasts and inter-league clashes set for FFA Cup SEQ Round 5

The 2019 FFA Cup is getting down to the business end of the preliminary phase with Round 5 for the South East Queensland (SEQ) region set to begin on Tuesday, 30 April.

There are just 24 teams from SEQ competitions competing across 12 matches this round, and there are set to be some tantalising clashes.

Four National Premier Leagues (NPL) Queensland teams will face off, with the unbeaten Peninsula Power hosting Brisbane City and Brisbane Strikers making the trip to Richlands to play Lions FC.

In the David and Goliath match of the round, NPL Queensland side Moreton Bay United will travel to take on Vilic Law Capital League 3’s Logan Metro.

The match will see some sibling rivalry as Logan Metro captain Jean Mike Jabo and his older brother, Moreton Bay’s Delors Tuyishime come face-to-face.

Logan Metro had never won a Cup game before this year and are the lowest ranked team remaining going into this round.

There will also be two NPL Queensland v Gold Coast clashes when Redlands United take on Coomera, who have made it to Round 5 of the FFA Cup for the first time, while Western Pride face Gold Coast Premier League leaders Burleigh Heads Bulldogs.

The Battle of the Coasts will get underway in two mouthwatering inter-zone clashes as Gold Coast Knights take on Sunshine Coast Wanderers, while Nambour Yandina United travel to Palm Beach after recording a win over Clairvaux FC over the weekend.

Four inter-league clashes are set to take place with Holland Park Hawks hosting Football Brisbane side Brisbane Athletic, while Olympic FC take a trip to Underwood Park to face Football Queensland Premier League team Rochedale Rovers.

Mitchelton FC make the quick journey across town to play Eastern Suburbs FC, while SWQ Thunder will welcome FQPL ladder leaders Logan Lightning.

Surfers Paradise Apollo will be looking to continue their FFA Cup run when they meet Grange Thistle.

Watch the Logan Metro and Moreton Bay United clash live on the Football Brisbane Facebook page on Tuesday, 30 April at 7:30pm.

The Holland Park Hawks and Brisbane Athletic game will also be streamed live on the Football Brisbane Facebook page on Wednesday, 1 May at 7:30pm.
