Bayswater City Ultimate Guide: Riding the crest of the wave

It’s been an exciting few years for Bayswater City but few moments will compare with opening the FFA Cup 2019 Round of 32 live on Fox Sports.

The West Australia outfit have been in running in difference guises since 1961 but have only recently found consistent success on the field. In fact, they have packed out their trophy cabinet in the past five years.

They were crowned Premiers and Champions of NPL WA in 2014, 2015 and 2017, going through the 2015 season undefeated and reaching the NPL Finals Series Grand Final.

Their only previous FFA Cup Round of 32 appearance arrived in 2014 where they went down 2-0 at home against Melbourne Victory after goals from Kosta Barbarouses and Archie Thompson.

A win in this year’s competition opener against Olympic FC in Brisbane may well be the defining moment for coach Chris Coyne and his players.

Another merge in 1995/96 with the Stirling Panthers saw them become the Bayswater City Panthers. They finally settled on Bayswater City in 2003 and the club enjoyed their most successful spell between 2012 and 2017.
