Berisha: ‘Now we want the FFA Cup trophy’

After edging past a plucky Hume City 3-0 in Wednesday night’s Westfield FFA Cup semi final, Melbourne Victory's star striker Besart Berisha has already turned his thoughts to the Cup final on November 7.

Berisha’s first-half penalty and late goals to Kosta Barbarouses and Jason Geria helped defeat the brave PS4 NPL Victoria club in front of more than 6000 fans at AAMI Park.

Victory remain on track to complete a remarkable domestic treble in 2015 a week from Saturday when they face Perth Glory at the same venue.

And Berisha is urging his teammates to be switched on fully for the chance to win a third major trophy this year.

“Last season we were a bit unlucky [in the FFA Cup] but this season we really wanted to go to the final and we want this trophy,” he told Fox Sports

Berisha knows all about winning Hyundai A-League Grand Finals – now he has to take that winning mentality into his first Westfield FFA Cup final.

“In finals you cannot be 99% you have to be 100% and I hope we are," he added.

"And we are definitely looking forward to the final."

Perth prepare for their big day on November 7 at AAMI Park with a trip to Sydney this weekend in the Hyundai A-League, while Victory face Phoenix at home next Monday night.

As for Wednesday's semi final, the Albanian international gave credit to Hume who represented the NPL with great distinction in the loss.

“It wasn’t easy. Today was really difficult,” he said. “Moments like this don’t come very often so you have to do your best.”
