Coaching shock: Taylor departs as South Melbourne boss

Last year’s Westfield FFA Cup semi-finalists South Melbourne have confirmed they have parted ways with coach Chris Taylor.

In a shock a couple of months out from the start of the PS4 NPL Victorian season, Taylor departs South after four-and-a-half years at the helm.

Taylor enjoyed great success during his time at Lakeside, helping the club to the 2016 Championship and the Premiership in 2015.

But it was last year where South Melbourne enjoyed success on the national stage, making it all the way to the last four of the Westfield FFA Cup.

Their incredible run was only ended by eventual champions Sydney FC.

“Chris has been an integral part of the club and the Senior team over the last four and a half years,” South Melbourne President Leo Athanasakis said.

“We would like to place on record our appreciation of Chris’ contribution and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”
