FFA Cup Preliminary Round 2 action kicks off in style in NSW

The beauty of the FFA Cup kicked off in NSW on Wednesday as three matches took centre stage as Preliminary Round Two clicked into gear.

Pluim Park played host to a goal-fest bonanza as Central Coast Football’s Southern & Ettalong United FC proved too strong as they powered to a 7-3 victory over Bathurst based Panorama FC.

United striker Jacob Caban and Theo Forsberg stole the show bagging two goals each as they helped their side progress to round 3 of the prestigious knockout competition.

Southern Districts Football Association’s Fairield Patrician Brothers FC won themselves a round 3 encounter albeit in gut wrenching circumstances as they defeated Berowra FC 3-2 on penalties after scores were locked at one-a-piece at Marconi Stadium.

Alan De La Cuadra scored for the hosts while M. Smariat scored for the visitors.

Finally, Ian McLennan Park played host to a cliff-hanger of a match as Illawarra Premier League outfit Tarrawanna Blueys needed extra time to defeat St George Football Association side Sans Souci FC 3-2.

Sans Souci got off to the best possible start scoring through Leonardo Stasolla in the 18th minute. The visitors thought they did enough to possibly knockout a decent team but the Blueys equalised in the 90th minute when Tyson Black sent the home faithful into raptures.

The game then went into extra-time and Shuhei Arai put the Blueys in front in the 95th minute but the visitors would not go away as Angelo Zvezdakovski scored in the 115th minute.

With penalties looming, the Blueys once again pulled a rabbit out of hat as Matthew Naylor scored what ultimately was the winning goal that sent his side into round 3 of the FFA Cup.

On Thursday evening at Bringelly Park, Southern District’s Football Association side Western Condors defeated the Gladesville Ravens with a youthful line-up thanks to a 1-0 victory.

This weekend will see 40 matches take place across NSW as Preliminary Round 2 of the FFA Cup continues to go through its paces.
