FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds: results wrap

The journey to the FFA Cup Round of 32 continued in recent days with a number of Preliminary Round matches taking place around the country.

Here's a snapshot of the results from around Australia.

NSW

There’s been plenty of goals in Round 4 action in NSW with Sydney Olympic thumping Emu Plains 7-0 and Bonnyrigg White Eagles crushing Woongarrah Wildcats 6-1.

In tighter affairs, Hills United downed Blacktown Spartans 2-1 and Albion Park White Eagles edged Randwick City 3-1.

Berkeley Valley, St George City and Central Coast United all cruised through to the next round with easy wins.

VICTORIA

In a huge result over the weekend, 2017 FFA Cup Semi-Finalist’s South Melbourne were dumped out in Round 4 by Hume City 1-0.

In other notable results, Port Melbourne Sharks downed Pascoe Vale 2-1,  Kingston City edged Dandenong City 2-0 and Altona Magic stunned  Melbourne  Knights 4-2.

There were easy wins for Green Gully, Bentleigh Greens and Goulburn Valley Suns.

QUEENSLAND

In Round 4 action in Queensland, Lions FC – who made it to the Round of 16 in 2015 – thumped Caboolture FC to book their spot in the next round.

Elsewhere, Peninsula Power eased past Redlands United 3-0 while Ipswich City needed extra-time to overcome New Farm United 2-1.

Eastern Suburbs SC, Olympic FC and Centenary Stormers all cruised into the next round with big wins.

WA

There was goals galore in the West as Balcatta FC and Gwelup both recorded 8-0 victories, while Stirling Lions racked up 10 in a crushing of Bunbury Dynamos.

Bayswater City also put 10 past Gosnells City, while there was narrow wins for Floreat Athena and Sorrento FC.

TAS

Some huge wins in Tasmania with Launceston (6-0), Taroona (7-0) and Hobart Jeep Zebras (11-1) racking up the goals in Round 4 wins.

In the only tightly-contested affair, Olympia FC edged Glenorchy Knights 5-3 on penalties after the match ended 3-3 at full-time.
