FFA Cup Round of 32 in numbers

With just a week to go before the FFA Cup 2018 Round of 16, we thought we would take a look back at some of the key figures to come out of the Round of 32.

We’ve crunched the numbers to come up with 10 interesting facts from the first 16 games of this year’s competition.

54 - The number of goals scored in the 16 Round of 32 matches. That’s a high-scoring average of 3.38 goals per game.

10 – The number of Member Federation clubs to have won through to the last 16, including Victoria’s Bentleigh Greens who eliminated Hyundai A-League outfit Wellington Phoenix.

57 – The number of minutes Bentleigh Greens had to survive with 10 men in their incredible upset of the Phoenix.

 

4 – The amount of goals scored in the 90th-minute or later, including Bruno Fornaroli’s stunning extra-time strike to help Melbourne City beat Brisbane Roar.

357 – The days between goals for Broadmeadow Magic’s Dino Fajkovic. After scoring in the Magic’s 4-2 loss to Moreton Bay in the Round of 32 in 2017, his next goal for the club came in this year’s Round of 32 as Broadmeadow beat Canberra FC 4-1.
 


19 – The number of minutes it took Adelaide United’s new recruit Mirko Boland to became an instant hero to Reds fans, with his brilliant overhead kick goal in the win over the Mariners.
 


35 – The number of seconds it took Heidelberg United to take the lead in their win over Charlestown City Blues. Kevin Davidson’s own goal was the second-fastest in FFA Cup history, nine seconds later than Daniel Heffernan’s goal for Heidelberg in 2015.
 


3,500 – The number of kilometres Armadale had to travel for their clash against Cairns FC. And as many as 50 fans made the trek across the country to support their side. Sensational stuff!

31 – The minutes between Hellenic AC’s Daniel Smith scoring an own goal against the Wanderers, before scoring at the right end in his side’s 4-3 loss in Darwin.


1 – One player scored on the opening night of the FFA Cup back in July 2014, and found the net again in the Round of 32 this year. That was Rockdale City’s Harris Gaitatzis (who scored for Sydney Olympic against Manly United in 2014).
