Victory aim to make the Final for a second time – winning the tournament in their only previous appearance in the FFA Cup Final in 2015 – while Wellington have made it to the last four for the first time in their history.

After starting their 2021 FFA Cup journey in the Play Off Round, Victory booked their spot in the Semi Finals with wins over Perth Glory, Adelaide City, Gold Coast Knights and Adelaide United.

Goals from Josh Brillante and Francesco Margiotta saw Victory fight back from a goal down to defeat United in the Quarter Finals – ending the defending Winners' record 12-game winning streak.

Phoenix won their first FFA Cup match in six years with victory over Western United in the Round of 32 before defeating Avondale FC and Melbourne City to reach their first ever Semi Final.

Nineteen-year-old goalkeeper Alex Paulsen was the hero in the Quarter Finals, saving three penalties in the shoot-out as the Phoenix overcame defending Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Champions Melbourne City at Kingston Heath.

Victory and Wellington are yet to meet in A-League action this season, with the last league meeting between the pair resulting in a 4-1 win for the Phoenix in March 2021.

Victory currently sit top of the Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s standings with 15 points to their name after eight rounds of action.

Tony Popovic’s side played out a pulsating 2-2 draw with Sydney FC in their most recent league outing on Tuesday night.

Wellington currently occupy ninth position on the league table after defeating Western Untied 2-1 last weekend.

Saturday’s Semi Final will be the first time Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix have faced one another in the FFA Cup.
