In an extraordinary turn of events, Hume City and Marconi Stallions have axed their respective first team coaches six days out from their opening night clash in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
Both sides will meet at Hume's ABD Stadium next Wednesday night with new faces in the dugout after both clubs parted ways with their coaches on the eve of their biggest game of the year.
Hume Technical Director Dean Hennessey - son of former English league stalwart and Welsh international Terry Hennessey - will take over as caretaker coach for the rest of the 2016 season.
Marconi have sacked coach Jeff Suzor after some indifferent form at club level in the NPL 2 in NSW.
There is some speculation that former NSL coach Bertie Mariani may take the reins at the Bossley Park club though there has been no word on Suzor's successor.
