Final preliminary round draw confirmed in WA

The draw for the final preliminary round of FFA Cup action in Western Australia was held on Tuesday with two blockbuster clashes to decide which clubs will qualify for the Round of 32.

Giant-killers Gwelup Croatia have been handed a home tie for their semi-final clash, drawn against NPL outfit Floreat Athena.

Gwelup needed extra-time on the weekend to get past Subiaco 2-1 and will be confident of toppling the NPL strugglers, who made the last four after a dramatic penalty-shootout victory over Perth SC.

First division Gwelup Croatia have taken two NPL WA scalps on their way to the last four – Cockburn City and Subiaco.

The other clash is an all NPL affair with Armadale to take on ECU Joondalup.

Both clubs scored five goals in their wins over the weekend to now sit just 90 minutes away from a spot in the Round of 32 and the chance to play on the national stage.

The winners of the two semi-final clashes in WA will be the state’s representatives in the Round of 32 and battle it out for the Football West Belt up. State Cup final.

The ties will take place on the public holiday of Monday, June 4.

Kick-off times are yet to be confirmed by Football West.
