Grant: Full squad of Sky Blues to pick from

Sydney FC defender Rhyan Grant says the club have a full squad to choose from as the Sky Blues look to continue their FFA Cup run on Wednesday.

The 2017 FFA Cup Winners face Brisbane Roar at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium for a spot in the Semi Finals and hosting rights against Central Coast Mariners.

The side have had a number of COVID cases within the club, but are now back out of isolation and ready to hit the field for the first time since Boxing Day.

"It's been a while since we've had the chance to to play, and train as a full squad," Grant said on Tuesday.

"But we've had a few good training sessions the last couple of days to really nail down and start getting used to each other again."

The game will be the first of two meetings between the sides this week, also facing off in the A-League Men competition on Saturday.

Usually completed by October or November, the FFA Cup 2021 has been extended by a few months due to border restrictions and postponements, but Grant is one that doesn't mind playing two games in a week.

"Having the Cup continue into the season is obviously a little bit different but as players and footballers we love to play more than we love to train," the Socceroos defender said.

"Having a game midweek and then on the weekend is ideal for us as players.

"We're excited we're still in the Cup and we want to give it a red-hot crack. We're only a couple wins away from being in the Final and adding some more silverware to our trophy cabinet, and that's super important to us at Sydney FC."

Sydney FC reached the Quarter Finals with an extra-time win over Macarthur FC in the Round of 16, but Grant is hoping this time the game is over within the 90 minutes.

"We did joke about if we do go to 120 minutes, at least both teams are in the same boat going into the weekend," he said. "But we want to get the job done before that and wrap it up in the 90."
