Halloran: We're going to have to dig deep against Floreat Athena

Adelaide United midfielder Ben Halloran admits the club are going to have to "dig deep" if they are to get a result over Floreat Athena in the FFA Cup Round of 32 on Sunday.

Adelaide United are three-time Winners of the FFA Cup, winning the inaugural 2014 edition, as well as the last two tournaments in 2018 and 2019.

Halloran was on the scoresheet in the 2019 Final, with United securing a dominant 4-0 win over Melbourne City at Coopers Stadium.

For 2021, Adelaide United have been drawn against National Premier Leagues side Floreat Athena, who finished runners-up in the NPL Western Australia Grand Final last week.

The match - which will be the first ever Round of 32 match held on a weekend - will be no easy task for the defending FFA Cup Winners.

How to watch the FFA Cup in 2021

“We’re really excited,” Halloran told adelaideunited.com.au.

“We don’t know too much about Athena. Odds are it’s going to be a pretty physical game and we’re probably going to have to dig deep.

“It might not be pretty at times, but it’s a Cup game so you just have to win at all costs.

“We’ve been in pre-season for a couple of months now and haven’t really been able to play too many games.

“We’re looking forward to it, but it’s also a really important game for the Club because we have a really proud record in the Cup.”
