Hume City coach Lou Acevski paid tribute to the club's fans and his players after a memorable win over Sydney Olympic in the FFA Cup Round of 16 on Tuesday night.
City booked a place in the FFA Cup final eight courtesy of a 3-1 victory over the NSW powerhouse at ABD Stadium.
Hume now have a Melbourne derby to look forward to when Oakleigh Cannons come to the ABD to play for a place in the semi finals.
“It’s a favourable draw in relation to playing another home game,” Acevski told Fox Sports.
“It’s a great opportunity for Victorian clubs to progress to the semi finals and hopefully we’ll be able to do the job.
“We set ourselves some goals at the start of the year and one of them was to qualify for the FFA Cup and now we’re one game away from a semi final.
“It’s a massive opportunity.”
And while Acevski rued not finishing the game off against Olympic, he was satisfied with his front line strikers as well as the fans who he said got the team over the line.
“The atmosphere was fantastic again and hopefully we’ll get another 2-3000 for the next game.”
