Fan-favourite and star attacker Leroy Jennings has issued a rallying cry to the Wollongong Wolves faithful to come out and support the club on Saturday November 6th as they tackle fellow National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s rivals Mt Druitt Town Rangers at Popondetta Park in highly anticipated round of 32 FFA Cup battle.
“We appreciate our fans’ continuous support, and we need them to get behind us on game day whether it’s down at Popondetta Park or on Channel 10 watching us on the box,” said Jennings.
“It’s a great opportunity to watch the team again after a couple of months off following the cancellation of football but the boys are ready to get the job done against a very familiar opponent.
“The preparations for this match have been good and challenging, but it makes a big difference knowing you are coming back to play in a big game such as this FFA Cup clash straight off the bat.
“We started training as a team 3 weeks ago which isn’t too long for a team to build that perfect chemistry and gel, but we are definitely doing our best to come together.
“This is a huge match and moment for the club because it gives us a chance to compete around the country and represent the region here should we progress further.
“It’s a great club full of history and success and they deserve to be playing in these big and important games.”
Luke Wilkshire will have the chance to unearth a couple of new faces but ones the Wolves faithful and NPL NSW Men’s audience know too well.
The South Coast club has welcomed back Nick Littler, Guy Knight, Peter Simonoski and Josh Macdonald while Japanese import Banri Kanaizumi and ex-Rangers midfielder Takumu Tsujimura could also make their debuts.
“There is a lot of few new faces, but some old Wolves boys have comeback too, so it’s a good head start when they already know most the team,” Jennings stated to Football NSW.
“For the new lads, they are all professional and are talented footballers so that makes it easy too, but it always takes time to transfer that onto the pitch.
“Lucky we have a team who are capable of doing it.”
Both clubs met twice during the 2021 NPL NSW Men’s season with the Wolves defeating the Rangers 3-0 in Round 3 before Mt Druitt returned serve with the same scoreline at Popondetta Park in Round 14.
