Liverpool Olympic ready for Sydney Olympic challenge

Southern District Soccer Football Association (SDSFA) side Liverpool Olympic are set to take on iconic National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s outfit Sydney Olympic FC in round 6 of the FFA Cup at Hoxton Park Reserve in Hinchinbrook on Wednesday 19th May (7pm) in what will be a David & Goliath battle.

Liverpool Olympic have definitely been a dark horse in this year’s competition as this is the clubs first time competing in the prestigious FFA Cup.

Although this has been a dream run so far in the FFA Cup for Liverpool Olympic, it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows for them.

Liverpool Olympic joined the competition in round 3 and found themselves going all the way to penalties on two occasions after conceding in the final minutes of extra-time.

In round 3, Liverpool Olympic beat Phoenix FC 4-2 in penalties.

In round 4, Liverpool Olympic beat Kemps Creek 2-1 in penalties.

And finally, round 5 saw Liverpool Olympic play in front of a healthy crowd of more than 300 people and beat Unanderra Hearts 1-0 in what was a very tough game for the club, but Markos Galla scored the crucial goal to take Liverpool Olympic into round 6 of the FFA Cup.

Liverpool Olympic will definitely be preparing for the club’s biggest match in their history against giants Sydney Olympic FC as they look forward to facing them on home turf at Hoxton Park Reserve.

With the likes of former A-League players Fabio Ferreira, Fabian Monge, Mohammed Adam and Adam Parkhouse to keep an eye on, Sydney Olympic will look to crush Liverpool Olympic’s hopes early as they don’t want a repeat of previous game against association football team Menai Hawks.

Liverpool Olympic will be hoping players like Thomas Piras, Jovan Miladinovic, Gordan Opacic, Milos Nisic, Chris el-Hayek and Liverpool Olympic’s player of the Cup so far Alex Boullosa can lead the club to a historic win and progress one step closer to reaching the final 32 in the nation.

Liverpool Olympic coach Diego Machuca couldn’t be prouder of his team’s success thus far.

“I am so proud of the boys.

“The team have worked so hard and haven’t given up.

“We’ve blown everyone’s expectations and hope to see a massive crowd next round as we get ready for our biggest game ever.”
