NSW Premier backs FFA Cup's Suns against Victory

Westfield FFA Cup fever is building in political circles with NSW Premier Mike Baird sending Rockdale City Suns a message of support ahead of their highly anticipated Cup clash with Hyundai A-League champions Melbourne Victory.

Premier Baird has given the team words of encouragement ahead of their David v Goliath match at Jubilee Oval next Tuesday night against the A-League powerhouse.

‘I congratulate the Rockdale City Suns for qualifying for the FFA Cup Round of 16,' he wrote in a message to the PS4 NPL NSW club.

'Tuesday’s match against the defending A League champions, Melbourne Victory, will be an historic occasion for the club, players and the Suns’ passionate supporters.

'Taking on one of the country’s top teams on your own turf, and in front of a national TV audience, is a rare opportunity so leave everything you have out on the park.

'I wish the team the very best of luck – I am sure you’ll do your club, the local community and all NSW football proud.'

What’s more, the Suns’ local council have got behind their boys as Paul Reid’s side look to make FFA Cup history.

The Rockdale council have placed good luck messages in the area as excitement builds ahead of the big game.

The Suns have one of the strongest PS4 NPL squads in Australia, featuring former A-League strikers Dylan Macallister and Marko Jesic, ex Sydney FC keeper Ivan Necevski plus exciting winger Toufic Alameddine.
