Re-live the Magic of the Cup: City survive Hakoah scare

Melbourne City were expected to breeze past Hakoah Sydney City East in the 2017 Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16, but the PS4 NPL outfit didn't read the script.

And it was a whirlwind opening half hour at Leichhardt Oval.

Danish defender Michael Jakobsen opened the scoring for City after just eight minutes.

But Kiwi Andre de Jong headed home Hakoah's equaliser two minutes later to the delight of the nearly 3000 home fans in attendance.

That joy was to be short-lived though with Nick Fitzgerald restoring City's advantage after 13 minutes.

It was 2-1 at half-time and Denis Genreau increased City's lead when he scrambled home his side's third goal after an hour.

Jack Green's tidy injury-time finish for the hosts made for some nervous final moments before City's passage to the quarter-finals was confirmed.
