Sam Smith netted from the penalty spot to put Gold Coast City 1-0 up over Moreton Bay United.

Re-live the Magic of the Cup: Piddick brothers' bromance of the Cup

Gold Coast City coach Grae Piddick earned bragging rights over younger brother Adam when his side defeated Adam’s Moreton Bay United in a tight and tense Westfield FFA Cup round of 16 tie in August.

It took a 108th minute goal for Gold Coast to succumb Moreton Bay, for who Adam Piddick is Technical Director.

The brothers are no strangers to sibling rivalry, having squared off in everything from backyard kick-arounds, junior football and as coaches in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland – where both have guided teams to a Premiers-Champions doubles.

The game was goal-less after 90 minutes and for a while it looked as though the game might not be completed when the floodlights at Moreton Bay’s Wolter Park ground went out less than a minute into extra-time.

But a local electrician in the crowd got them going with power restored after 20 minutes allowing the game to continue.

It was the visitors who scored the vital goal, Sam Smith earning and converting a penalty with 12 minutes remaining to send City through to the quarter-finals for the second time.
