FFA Cup Preliminary Round 3 fixtures took place in Queensland’s tropics on the weekend, with a host of team’s booking their spot in the next round.
In the North Queensland Zone, Saints Eagles Souths, Brothers FC and Burdekin FC joined bye recipients MA Olympic in the next round.
Saints Eagles Souths were victorious over Townsville Warriors FC 3-2 in extra time at Melrose Park.
While in a Brolga Park double header, Burdekin FC got their season off to a flying start with a 3-1 victory over Wulguru United FC.
In the second game, Brothers continued their cup form with a solid 2-0 win over Rebels FC.
In the Far North Queensland Zone, Southside Comets have beaten Marlin Coast Rangers 3-2, while Innisfail United saw off Douglas United 2-1.
Stratford Dolphins accounted for Leichhardt FC 4-0 at Nick Birko Field, while Edge Hill United also advanced with a big 6-2 win over Mareeba Bulls.
The Comets will now face Innisfail in Preliminary Round 4, while the Dolphins will tackle Edge Hill.
