Sharks scrape past Lions to book FFA Cup spot

Palm Beach SC are into the Westfield FFA Cup round of 32 for a second straight year after a 1-0 win over Noosa Lions on Saturday night.

Jack Boxell was a super-sub for the Sharks, coming off the bench to slot home a 76th-minute winner at the Mallawa Complex to claim Queensland’s fourth and final regional spot in the main draw.

But the victory wasn’t without its drama as the Lions almost forced extra-time late on.

The Lions were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes only for in-form striker Alex Barlow to scuff his attempt wide of the post.
