Sorrento shock Bayswater to earn Westfield FFA Cup berth

Sorrento has continued their giant-killing run to make the Westfield FFA Cup round of 32 with a shock win over Bayswater FC on Saturday.

The visitors emerged after a thrilling penalty shootout after scores were locked at 1-1 after 120 nerve-jangling minutes.

Sorrento made a dream start as lively striker Jack Salter gave them the lead inside the first two mminutes.

But Chris Coyne’s Bayswater were always  a threat and duly got back on level terms 15 minutes into the second half.

Striker David Heagney bobbed up with a far-post header and after a dour period of extra-time the contest went to penalties.

And that’s when Sorrento ‘keeper James Morgan proved the hero, coming up with some vital contributions to have his side on the national stage and in the main draw on July 1.
