South Australia Round 4 wrap

Two PlayStation 4 NPL clubs bit the dust following the weekend's Preliminary Round matches in South Australia.

Adelaide Comets v South Adelaide

Adelaide Comets put South Adelaide to the sword in Round 4 of the Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Rounds in SA, winning 8-2 at the SA Athletics Stadium.

Off-season signings Christopher Pepe and Andreas Wiens - both arrived from Croydon Kings - scored braces, whilst Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, Jack Bladen, Eli Qioin El Wali and Yianni Nestoras also etched their names onto the scoreboard.

Jonathan Rideout and Sam Carmichael netted for the Panthers.

West Torrens Birkalla v Adelaide Victory

West Torrens Birkalla, with a number of first game players in the side, had to work hard to hold off a determined Adelaide Victory in their Westfield FFA Cup tie.

Complacency was always going to be the test for Birkalla, and they were nearly made to pay early in the contest when Adelaide Victory had two golden opportunities to take the lead in the opening minutes but were denied by some good goal-keeping by Julian Torresan in the Birkalla goals.

Campbelltown City v Sturt Lions

Adam Piscioneri opened the scoring after only four minutes and also added an 88th minute sealer. In between there were goals for Jacob Williams and Andrew Kaine as the Red Devils comfortably advanced to the next round.
