Last year's Westfield FFA Cup fairytale story South Springvale have recorded another win and are now a step closer to the Round of 32 for a second year in a row.
But it wasn't just South Springvale who knocked off the big guns on the weekend in Victoria.
Frankston Pines also made their own history against a team with an A-League star in its ranks.
Both Pines and South Springvale – from the third-tier in Victoria – disposed of NPL opposition to move within touching distance of a spot in the round of 32 of this year’s competition.
Pines emerged with a hard-fought 1-0 win over an Avondale FC side which had ex-Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City midfielder Massimo Murdocca in their line-up.
A controversial goal to Brad Blumenthal just past the halfway mark of the second half proved the difference in a classic Cup tie.
