Round of 16 entrants Sydney Olympic have announced a fantastic exciting new partnership with the Starlight Children's Foundation on the eve of their clash with Bentleigh Greens.
At the launch of their new Westfield FFA Cup kit today, Sydney Olympic, Head of Corporate Partnerships, Paul Aspros made the announcement and revealed the new logo on the front of the playing strip.
“I’m delighted that our club has taken this opportunity to undertake a “reverse sponsorship” with the Starlight Children’s Foundation," Aspros said.
"Our partnership will mean that instead of Sydney Olympic receiving sponsorship revenue from a potential sponsor, we will in fact donate funds to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, and will undertake fundraising activities right through our Westfield FFA Cup campaign.
"With the Fox Sports coverage, it provides our club with a level of exposure to mainstream football fans that we haven’t seen since we competed in the National Soccer League, and rather than use this opportunity to secure a commercial sponsor, we’re proud to make a contribution to the Starlight Children’s Foundation and also assist in raising awareness of the wonderful work Starlight do with children and their families."
Sydney Olympic will donate $2 from every ticket sold at its Westfield FFA Cup match at Lambert Park tomorrow night (Tuesday 16 September) to the charity, while Starlight volunteers will also be collecting gold coin donations on the night from what Aspros expects to be a bumper crowd.
“We will continue our partnership with Starlight right through our Cup run, and with some big crowds expected if we progress to the quarter finals, semi-final and the Final, we’ll be hoping to raise a significant amount of money for Starlight," Aspros added.
Starlight Children's Foundation CEO Louise Baxter said she was appreciative of the support from the club that narrowly missed out on claiming the National Premier Leagues NSW title on Sunday.
"The much-needed funds raised through our partnership with Sydney Olympic Football Club will help Starlight continue to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, adolescents and their families around Australia," Baxter said.
“Congratulations to everyone involved at Sydney Olympic FC for using the platform of the Westfield FFA Cup to assist Starlight.
“The Westfield FFA Cup is a knockout competition so the further Sydney Olympic FC can go in the Cup, the more funds will be raised for Starlight. We will be cheering for Sydney Olympic on Tuesday night at Lambert Park, and hope they can go all the way through to the Grand Final!"
