Sekiya's double sinks Muscat's men

One of the more incredible results of 2018 saw APIA Leichhardt Tigers consign heavyweights Melbourne Victory to a shock Round of 16 exit.

Tasuku Sekiya instigated the upset with a brilliant brace that brought him national attention.

The part-time Opera House employee was already known to NPL New South Wales audiences before the August encounter, but in just over a half of football he had admirers stretching far and wide.

Sekiya opened the scoring with an unerring low drive in the ninth minute and returned after the interval to lash home a second.

Kenny Athiu fired Melbourne Victory back to parity with two goals in six minutes, before Nathan Millgate's winner ensured Sekiya's star turn was not in vain as the Tigers secured a spectacular 3-2 victory.
