Westfield FFA Cup preview

Blacktown City v Bentleigh Greens

#BTCvBG

Venue: Lillys Football Centre, Seven Hills, Sydney

KO: 7.30pm

This promises to be the closest tie of the night with both sides in similar form in their respective NPL leagues and possessing strong squads.

Blacktown have had a superb domestic season, winning the NSW Waratah Cup Final 6-2 against fellow Westfield FFA Cup side Manly United.

Unfortunately for Mark Crittenden’s men their title hopes evaporated with a 0-0 draw with Sydney United on the weekend meaning they have dropped to third spot.

But in striker Travis Major they have a player with an eye for goal and someone who could prove a real weapon on Tuesday night.

Japanese import Ruyji Miyazawa is one to watch while former Sydney FC winger Mitch Mallia, Kearyn Baccus and Sasa Macura are key players for the NSW side.

Experienced Greens coach John Anastasiadis will ensure his side won’t be overawed by the trip north.

Bentleigh, who drew 2-2 with Heidelberg on the weekend to remain fourth in the Victorian NPL,  have been soaking up their run to the national cup competition and have threats all over the park.

The midfield of Liam McCormick, skipper Wayne Wallace and Davide Cardamone are a real strength while striker David Stirton is also in form.

Winger Ryan De Vries provides some blistering pace as well.
