Recent form

Gold Coast City's last competitive fixture was nearly a month ago when they lost their NPL Queensland semi-final 3-0 to Western Pride, just three days after their round-of-16 Westfield FFA Cup win.

South Melbourne also dipped out of the NPL Victoria playoffs at the semi-final stage, losing on penalties to Bentleigh Greens at the start of September.

What they said

Jason Campbell, Gold Coast City midfielder

“I’m not too fazed by their history for this game.

“They are obviously a good team and play in a good competition in Victoria.

“But a lot of that history happened before I was even born, so I don’t think it will affect this game much.”

Chris Taylor, South Melbourne coach

“We have done a lot of analysis on them and we know they are going to be tough opposition.

“We have been keeping an eye on them and we’re well aware of their strengths and capabilities.”
