The last of the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 venues has been confirmed with the encounter between Palm Beach Sharks and South Springvale on Tuesday 23 September 2014 to be held at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.
This year’s NPL Queensland Premiers will host the State League South East club from Victoria’s fourth tier competition at the former home of now defunct Hyundai A-League club Gold Coast United in the last 16 after the venue was decided upon following consultation between Football Federation Australia (FFA), Football Queensland, the stadium’s operators and Palm Beach.
Due to Palm Beach Sharks’ home venue (Mallawa Complex) failing to meet the required lighting and venue standards, the NPL Queensland club will meet the Westfield FFA Cup’s self-proclaimed ‘pub team’ on the grand stage of the Gold Coast’s premier rectangular sporting facility.
The match is one of two to be played in Queensland in the last 16 of the Westfield FFA Cup, with South Australia and New South Wales also hosting two matches, while there will be one in both Victoria and the ACT.
In the first of two nights of the Round of 16, FOX SPORTS will broadcast Tuggeranong United’s match against Melbourne Victory on 16 September and then the Sydney Derby between Sydney United 58 FC and Sydney FC on 23 September, as well as provide up to the minute crosses and updates of the other six matches.
The Round of 16 kicks off on 16 September 2014.
