Penalty-shootouts, big scores and a brace by ex-Leeds United and Newcastle Jet Michael Bridges highlighted another dramatic round of Westfield FFA Cup preliminary round matches around the country over the weekend.
With NPL teams joining the action in Northern NSW, Bridges capped his competitive debut for Lambton Jaffas with two goals as they crushed Beresfield United 8-2 in Lake Macquarie on Saturday.
Broadmeadow Magic (6-0) and South Cardiff (3-0) – two sides who were part of last season’s Westfield FFA Cup – had little trouble getting through over Swansea and Kahibah respectively.
