Australia Cup Round of 32: The Socceroos set to visit the suburbs this August

With the Australia Cup Final Rounds set to kick off this week, we run through all the Australian internationals that could be visiting a suburban ground near you!

Following on from a jam-packed June, when all four of Australia Men's national teams were in action, check out which Subway Socceroos, Olyroos and Joeys could feature in the upcoming Round of 32, which is set to commence on August 4.

Adelaide United

The perennial Cup specialists Adelaide United were eliminated at the Quarter Finals of the tournament last time out, but will have a couple of Socceroos spearheading their charge this time around.

Craig Goodwin was absent for the entirety of the Reds' cup run in 2022 due to an injury, that he managed to shake off in time to star for Australia at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Adelaide skipper is joined by goalkeeper Joe Gauci, who recently made his senior international debut against Ecuador in March.

And of course not to be forgotten, Nestory Irankunda returns to Adelaide after a breakout season, which was capped off by a string of impressive performances for the Subway Joeys at the AFC U17 Asian Cup in Thailand.

Carl Veart's side will head to Victoria to take on Northcote City on August 14.

Brisbane Roar

Under new leadership in Ross Aloisi this year, Brisbane Roar possess a sole Australian international in versatile Olyroo Kai Trewin, who took to the pitch for Australia at the Maurice Revello Tournament.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a Roar mainstay over the last couple of years, and feature on the club's run to the Semi Finals which came to a close at the hands of Sydney United 58 last year.

Brisbane will head to Maitland to take on Newcastle Jets in an all-A-League clash on August 14.

Central Coast Mariners

A club that have produced more than their fair share of Socceroos, the Central Coast Mariners are set to face a familiar foe in the Round of 32 in Sydney FC.

While Socceroos Jason Cummings and Garang Kuol have departed the club in recent times, they still possess a couple of Olyroos - including Olyroo Alou Kuol, who has returned to the Coast after a stint abroad with VfB Stuttgart.

Kuol represented Australia in France last month alongside teammate Jacob Farrell, who played a pivotal role in the Mariners' A-League Men's Championship win earlier this year.

Subway Joeys midfielder Miguel Di Pizio is also amongst Nick Montgomery's ranks, with one first grade appearance to his name so far.

Macarthur FC

Reigning Australia Cup holders Macarthur FC travelled to Darwin and successfully overcame Perth Glory in the Playoffs to lock in a Round of 32 clash away at South Australia's Campbelltown City.

One of the goalscorers during their 4-0 win over Perth was Olyroo Jake Hollman, who also found the back of the net for Australia at the Maurice Revello Tournament.

Melbourne City

Melbourne City will be back in competitive action for the first time since their shock Grand Final defeat to the Central Coast Mariners.

While Jordan Bos, Marco Tilio, Aiden O'Neill and Tom Glover have all recently departed, City still possess a couple of players who travelled to China to take on Argentina.

Jamie Maclaren and Mathew Leckie - who scored his first City goal in the Australia Cup - will be looking to fire as they take on NPL Victoria outfit Oakleigh away at Jack Edwards Reserve in a mouthwatering matchup on August 13.

Newcastle Jets

Similar to their Round of 32 opponents Brisbane Roar, the Newcastle Jets pose just the solitary Olyroo amongst their ranks, with Lucas Mauragis having recently lined up for his country in France.

Mauragis started as the Jets overcame Melbourne Victory in a dramatic penalty shootout at Darwin Football Stadium to seal their ticket to the Final Rounds.

Sydney FC

Sydney FC will be represented in the Cup by a couple of Socceroos, including World Cup qualification hero Andrew Redmayne and Joel King - who recently returned to the club on a permanent deal.

Joeys winger Nathan Amanatidis has also linked up with the Sky Blues from Adelaide United's youth team following a breakout tournament in Thailand, where he scored two goals.

The Sky Blues will head to Wollongong as they host Central Coast Mariners at WIN Stadium on August 13.

Western Sydney Wanderers

Last but not least, the Western Sydney Wanderers are set for a long away trip to Perth when they take on Floreat Athena on August 9.

Brandon Borrello will be looking to find the back of the net off the back of a red-hot season which saw him recalled to the Socceroos setup.

The Red and Black have also added an Olyroo to their ranks during the off-season, in former Brentford forward Lachlan Brook.

Brook was a member of the initial Olyroos squad named ahead of the Maurice Revello Tournament, but was unfortunately forced to withdraw due to injury.
