South Springvale’s FFA Cup dreams are over for 2015 as PS4 NPL outfit Oakleigh Cannons survived a late scare to progress to the Round of 32 on Wednesday night.
At Warner Reserve, goals to Piemonte on the stroke of half-time and Sadler late in the second half had Arthur Papas’s Cannons in the box seat.
But South are Cup’s fighters and a late goal from Con Katsalakis with six minutes left of normal time ensured a nervy ending.
However Oakleigh hung on and ended the Cup dreams of South Springvale, who caught the imagination of fans around the country last year with their fairytale run to the Round of 16 of the FFA Cup.
