Twenty teams will lock horns in round 6 of the Preliminary stages of the FFA Cup on Wednesday 16 May as each NSW club moves closer to the coveted Round of 32 spot after the draw was officially announced on Friday at Football NSW Headquarters.
There were a number of talking points during the course of the draw presented by Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge alongside former Caltex Socceroos coach Rale Rasic, which includes Sutherland Shire Football Association’s Kirrawee Kangeroos hosting Football South Coast’s Tarrawanna Blueys.
This match assures that one Association side will have an opportunity to potentially cause a huge shock in round 7 with the winner progressing to the round of 32.
The third and final Association side, Shoalhaven District Football Association’s Bomaderry SC drew a promising home draw against NPL 2 NSW Men’s outfit GHFA Spirit FC.
In other big matches, an all NPL NSW Men’s battle will take place at the Ilinden Sports Centre as Rockdale City Suns are set to entertain Sydney United 58 while Hakoah Sydney City East will host NPL 2 NSW Men’s side Mounties Wanderers in a tricky tie for Gavin Rae’s men.
Sydney Olympic are set to face NPL 3 NSW Men’s outfit Hawkesbury City while the newly created Central Coast United boys in the State League Men’s will do all that they can in overthrowing the Hills United side in an away fixture.
APIA Leichhardt Tigers won itself a home clash against NPL 2 NSW Men’s side St George FC while the Bonnyrigg White Eagles travel to St George where they will face NPL 3 NSW Men’s outfit St George City FA.
Finally there will be a local derby when the SD Raiders take on the Marconi Stallions at Ernie Smith Reserve, a match that is sure to bring out the locals in the South West area of Sydney.
