FFA Cup prelim update: midweek results wrap

There’s been more games right around the country in the FFA Cup as clubs continue their charge towards the competition’s Round of 32.

Here's a snapshot of some of the key results from around Australia on Tuesday night.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Modbury Jets prevailed in a five-goal thriller to eventually beat Brahma Lodge 3-2 at Cockburn Green.

The Jets led 2-1 at the break but were pegged back as Michael Mullen equalised on 54 minutes for the hosts.

But Shaun McGreevy had the final say, netting the winner from the penalty spot for Modbury 20 minutes from time.

Elsewhere, a brace by Axel Perez-Garcia and further goals to William MacDonald and Michael Tedesco handed Adelaide University a 4-2 win over Salisbury International.

And on Monday night, Bosa SC cruised to a 5-0 drubbing of Mount Barker United at Charles Cane Reserve.

NORTHERN TERRITORY

FFA Cup newcomers Darwin Hearts FC have been eliminated in the Top End at the hands of Palmerston Rovers.

Palmerston, who have dominated Cup football in the region in recent seasons, had too much class for Hearts at the secured a 3-1 win at the Darwin Football Stadium.

QUEENSLAND

There was a stack of games in Queensland overnight with Brisbane City racking up a big 5-2 win over the Capalaba Bulldogs,

Logan Lightning also stayed alive in the competition as they won a six-goal thriller 4-2 over Virginia United.

And Brisbane Strikers are pushing for a return to the Round of 32 after they accounted for Albany Creek 3-1.

VICTORIA

There was late drama in Victoria as Goulburn Valley Suns scored in injury-time to beat Eltham Redbacks FC 2-1 at McEwen Reserve.

Eltham, who play in Victorian State League One having won four straight promotions in the last four seasons, looked like forcing extra-time after Lachlan Hogben equalised after the break.

But Craig Carley broke Redbacks hearts with a winner in the first minute of stoppage-time to send the NPL 2 outfit through.
