There’s a huge opportunity for another five Member Federations clubs tonight as the FFA Cup Round of 32 continues right around the country.
We’ve already seen some exceptional talent among the ranks of the Member Federation clubs, with a few more players set to catch the eye tonight.
Here’s three players in action tonight who could put their best foot forward for a spot at Hyundai A-League club with a strong performance.
BRAYDEN MANN – DEVONPORT STRIKERS
If anyone knows what this competition is all about, it’s the Strikers skipper.
Mann is heading into his fourth year in the Round of 32 and has consistently made an impact, including the Strikers’ 1-0 win over Lambton Jaffas two years ago.
And he’s having a sensational season in Tassie, scoring 29 goals from 15 league games to have Devonport at the top of the ladder in the NPL.
If he can keep that scoring rate going in the FFA Cup, it might prompt some Hyundai A-League clubs to give him a shot.
MATT THURTELL – BENTLEIGH GREENS
The Greens face a tough challenge against Hyundai A-League side Wellington Phoenix but in Thurtell they have a player in sensational form.
The classy striker is a prolific scorer in the tough Victorian NPL competition and is the Greens leading scorer this campaign with 12 goals.
And he’s firing at just the right time having banged in a hat-trick against Kingston City on Friday night, the same team Bentleigh beat to qualify for the Round of 32.
It should ensure he’s oozing confidence against Hyundai A-League opposition and what better opportunity to put himself in the shop window with a big showing at Kingston Heath in a match being broadcast live on Fox Sports.
MORGAN SAUNDERS – GOLD COAST KNIGHTS
They are one of the fairytale stories of this year’s FFA Cup and the Knights’ incredible run to the Round of 32 has a lot to do with the impact of this young attacker.
Saunders, who is equally comfortable as an attacking midfielder or anywhere in the front three, has scored some key goals as the side from the third tier in Queensland has made it onto the national stage.
Forging a great partnership with former Sydney FC striker Jarrod Kyle, Saunders brings pace, power and an incredible work-rate to the table for Grae Piddick’s side.
Up against Hyundai A-League opposition in the Newcastle Jets, he’ll be desperate to put his best foot forward in this one.
