Fowler sinks Hyundai A-League Champions in impressive Brisbane Roar FC debut

Liverpool legend Fowler watched on from the dugout in his maiden professional coaching debut as Roar trumped reigning Hyundai A-League Champions 2-0 at Leichhardt Oval.

Australian midfielder Stefan Mauk broke the deadlock in the first half for the Queenslanders before new recruit Jay O'Shea doubled the advantage two minutes after the interval.

Fowler - who was appointed head coach of the three-time Hyundai A-League Champions back in April - admitted there were no nerves during the build-up to the first match of his reign.

The shock upset is just Brisbane's second win in the FFA Cup, and the club's first since defeating Stirling Lions 4-0 back in the inaugural 2014 edition.
