Hero Lambros Honos has revealed Bentleigh Greens were well prepared for a penalty shoot-out after their emphatic shootout win over Hume City in their Round of 32 FFA Cup tie last night.
The midfielder scored Bentleigh's fourth spot-kick to advance his side to the last 16 after Ben Litfin, Matt Thurtell, Kieran Dover had all converted.
All penalties were expertly taken, showing that practise makes perfect when it comes down to these clutch moments.
"I thought we would have finished the game off earlier, but that's soccer," Honos told Fox Sports after the game.
"I guess it's sort of luck in the penalties and we were lucky tonight.
"We practise them quite a bit," he explained.
ROTATION THE KEY FOR GREENS
Bentleigh's reward is a home tie against Hyundai A-League side the Western Sydney Wanderers
"The coaching staff has done a good job rotating the players," said Honos.
"We're semi-professionals, so when you're playing so many matches, it's important to keep the players fresh.
