Elvis Kamsoba says it would be 'something special' to play alongside Italian football icon Andrea Pirlo, who has been approached by Avondale FC to play in their FFA Cup Quarter-Final against Sydney FC.
In an exciting development ahead of next Wednesday’s clash against the Sky Blues, Avondale confirmed they have contacted the 39-year-old FIFA World Cup winning midfielder about pulling on the jersey of the Victorian NPL club.

One of the most gifted playmakers in world football in his heyday, Pirlo’s addition would be a huge boost for Avondale as they look to record a huge FFA ‘Cupset’ over the Hyundai A-League powerhouses.
And Kamsoba has no doubt Pirlo’s presence in Avondale’s team would give them the confidence to topple the Sky Blues.
“It would be something very special for us,” a shocked Kamsoba told www.theffacup.com.au.
“To be able to play with someone who has won a World Cup, played with the best players in the world…it’s something that doesn’t come around often.
“In the end I think we have a team that’s good enough, that if we take our chances we could take Sydney down.”
“It would be the best to have him in the team. If he plays that would give us an extra 10% or 20% lift up.”
Pirlo’s addition would provide further ammunition to Avondale’s star-studded attack featuring the likes of Kamsoba, Liam Boland, Joey Katebian and Kaine Sheppard.
Kamsoba has been one of the revelations of this year’s FFA Cup competition, exciting the crowds with his silky skills, pacy runs and spectacular goal celebrations.
So what about the prospect of getting on the end of one of Pirlo’s famed through-balls?
“I hope he can read my runs,” Kamsoba joked.

Pirlo was capped 116 times for the Azzuri, with the highlight of his career coming at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where he was man-of-the-match as Italy defeated France in the final in a penalty shootout.
He also won two Champions League titles and six Serie A crowns during his glittering career.
Pirlo, who also featured for Juventus against the Hyundai A-League All Stars in 2014, retired from professional football at the end of last year having played three seasons with New York City in the MLS.
